Mini Chai Maple Scones

Here's the deal -- I'm calling these scones my "redemption scones."
Wanna know why?
This is only the second time, in my 23.5 years of life, that I've made scones...and the first try was a disaster! Little ole' high school Mary sincerely tried to make delicious Blueberry Scones for a huge afternoon tea my friend and I were creating, and while they looked picture perfect, those scones were tough, bland, and tasted like flour!
But now! About 7 years later, with my since-acquired knowledge of bread-making, and dough-handling, the time has finally come for a redo -- and I knew just what flavor I wanted.
*CHAI*

Yes, it's officially Fall (as of two days ago), and yes pumpkin, and pumpkin spice will forever be THE default Fall flavor...but I like Chai better!
There. I said it.
Can I get an "Amen"?!
And so we usher in how these lovely little Chai Maple Scones came into both our lives. Let's give a big, warm "thank you" to Plays Well with Butter for this recipe. I was researching and comparing Chai Scone recipes left and right, when I came across these "tiny glimpses into heaven" (as one of my close friends describes them).
The process to make them is simple enough, but the flavor all centers around the homemade Chai Spice Blend -- and the best part is that you can scale this spice blend up or down, so you can have just enough to make this recipe, or extra in your cabinet for future Fall goodies!
(I went the second route...mwa ha haaa)
You can ALSO freeze these puppies after you roll and cut them, so you don't have to feel pressured to shovel down 5 or 6 the day you bake them, to make sure they don't go to waste!
I'm all about baking at my leisure.
I really don't know how she did it, but Jess' recipe for these Mini Chai Maple Scones were the exact balance of warmth and sweet that makes Chai my favorite comforting flavor when the leaves start to change. Enjoy!
