Though I've seen them decorating my Instagram feed for the last couple of years, I only tasted my first smoothie bowl just a couple of months ago -- and boy was it good!

Starting to tire of what had become my go-to breakfast (peanut butter banana smoothie) I decided to do a little experimentation of my own, and ended up with three refreshing and satisfying breakfast options:

  • Berries and Orange

  • Banana Apple

  • Ode-to-Carrot-Cake

What you'll love about these smoothie bowls:

  • More filling than a normal smoothie (because you can add toppings!)

  • Easy to make

  • Refreshing

  • Essentially just soup made of fruit -- ain't such a bad thing is it?!

*All ingredients are measured by estimate (varying from sizes of fruit and personal preference)

Ingredients for the Berries and Orange Smoothie Bowl:

1 Banana (sliced & frozen)

1 Whole Orange, (peeled)

1/4 Cup Strawberries + extra for topping

1/4 Cup Blackberries + extra for topping

1.4 Cup Blueberries + extra for topping

1-2 T Chia Seeds

*Optional 1 T Shredded coconut for topping

All smoothies blended with 3/4 cup Ice Cubes and about 1/8 to1/4 almond milk

  1. Blend together all ingredients, pour into bowl, and top with listed toppings.

Ingredients for the Banana Apple Smoothie Bowl:

1 Whole Banana

1 Whole Gala Apple, peeled and diced

1/8 Cup Shredded Coconut + extra for topping

*1 T Chia Seeds, 1/8 cup Granola (for topping)

All smoothies blended with 3/4 cup Ice Cubes and about 1/8 to1/4 almond milk

  1. Blend together all ingredients, pour into bowl, and arrange listed toppings.

1/2 Gala Apple (peeled and diced)

1/2 Cup Raw Carrots (peeled and diced)

1/4 Cup Cold Water

*1 tsp Ground Cinnamon, 1 T Shredded Coconut, 2 T Chia Seeds (for topping)

All smoothies blended with 3/4 cup Ice Cubes and about 1/8 to1/4 almond milk
